The summer crop of 2018/2019 shall insert around R$ 31.29 billion in the economy of Rio Grande do Sul. The data was presented on this Tuesday (12th), by Emater, during a breakfast which occurred in Expodireto Cotrijal.

The entity estimates that the current crop will generate a total production of 31,958,728 tons, in a plantation area of 7,638,082 hectares. The projection is 4.60% superior to the 30,551,928 tons registered in the crop of 2017/2018. In the last ten years, the amount projected is inferior only to the registered in the period 2016/2017, with had a production of 33,637,594 tons.

The largest increase is projected in the corn culture. In the last crop, it was produced an amount of 4,514,545 tons, with a productivity of 6,455 kg/ha. In this season, it is expected a harvest of 5,522,224 tons, with a productivity of 7,350 kg/ha, increasing in 22.32%.

According to the president of Emater, Iberê Orsi, the increasing in the corn productivity is related to the technology advance. “We need the corn production to keep increasing. It is the main leader in the meat production, of animal protein”, says Orsi.

Soybean is in highlight

Concerning the soybean, the data from Emater points to a productivity of 3,196 kg/ha and a production of 18,545,928 tons, which represents a positive variation of 5.70%. In the crop of 2017/2018, it was harvested an amount of 17,546,405 tons and a productivity of 3,047 kg/ha.

“This year is great for soybean. However, we industrialize too little”, analyzes Orsi. He calculates that an increase of the industrialization would result in economic gains for the State.

Rice – The only fall registered is in the culture of rice. In the crop of 2018/2019, Emater predicts a production of 7,788,463 tons and a productivity of 7,606 kg/ha. The data indicates a fall of 7.24% in the production.

The rice fall is mainly connected to the floods that have harmed the plantation in the main productive region, as the Western border.

“In the rice culture, except for the flooded places, the projection is very good”, says the president of Emater.

Bean – The Emater predicts that the beans from 1st crop will have an increase of 8.64% in the production, while the beans from the 2nd crop will have an increase of 5.32% (check the data in the table).

The data was collected in 101 town offices of Emater for the rice culture, 225 for the bean in 1st crop, 152 for bean in 2nd crop, 397 for grain corn, 366 for silage corn and 351 for soybean, besides 12 regional offices and the Central Office.

The survey completed a sample which covered 94.4% of the area of the rice culture, 82.9% of the bean of 1st crop, 94% of 2nd crop beans, 90.5% of grain corn, 90.8% of silage corn and 93.3% of the soybean area.
